Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo Questions Shatta Wale’s Criticism: ‘Davido Is The Eye, What Are You?

Entertainment journalist and analyst, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, didn’t hold back when addressing Shatta Wale’s recent criticisms of fellow musician Stonebwoy’s career choices. The rift between these two Ghanaian artists began when Stonebwoy discussed the state of the Ghanaian music industry in light of Asake’s successful O2 Arena concert, highlighting the need for industry improvements.
In response, Shatta Wale released a video strongly rebuking Stonebwoy’s comments. He accused Stonebwoy of undervaluing himself and predicted that he would never reach the same level of success as top Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Davido, or Burna Boy. Shatta Wale even brought up Stonebwoy’s fees for performances, stating that he accepted a mere $10,000 compared to the $300,000 that Burna Boy commands.
Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, however, had a different perspective. He questioned Shatta Wale’s harsh criticism and defended the role of opening acts in the music industry. He argued that being a curtain-raiser doesn’t diminish an artist’s worth. Arnold also challenged Shatta Wale’s contradictions, highlighting how his divisive comments clashed with his calls for industry unity.
Arnold concluded by asking a crucial question: “Let’s assume that in Ghana, you’re our topmost artiste. What is your position?” He pointed out the double standards in Shatta Wale’s statements and urged for a more constructive and supportive approach within the Ghanaian music industry.
In this heated exchange of words, it’s clear that the Ghanaian music scene is evolving, and the artists are passionate about their craft. Time will tell whether unity prevails over discord in this dynamic industry.
