In the wake of the murder of Ismael Abdullah Mensah, a 10-year-old who was assassinated by two teenage boys for money rituals, residents of Amanase in the Eastern Region attempted to burn the shrine of the Priestess linked to the murder.
The angry mob, led by the regent of Amanase, Osabarima Obengfo Addo Agyekum matched to the shrine of the priestess to set it ablaze following her arrest along with another accomplice.
However, it took the intervention of the police to stop the angry mob from accomplishing the mission.
Expressing the anger of the youth, Osabarima Obengfo Addo Agyekum said; “It is only now that we’ve understood the gravity of their activities to the extent of taking a life in the name of giving money to the youth for that matter.”
On behalf of the angry mob, he issued a three-day deadline for the Inspector-General of Police to provide them with reports on the arrests that had been made.
The sudden of Ishmael came as a shock to many after he was gruesomely murdered by two teenage boys, identified as Felix Nyarko and Nicholas Kini for money rituals.
The boys confessed to the crime by saying that an advertisement aired on television motivated their decision to murder Ishmael and use him for the required rituals.
According to them, the priestess promised the wealth and power after providing the requirements which they will be taken to the Volta Region for the final rituals.
Meanwhile, Nicholas and Felix have been remanded into police custody after their first appearance in court as investigations continue.
Also, concerned Ghanaians have called for the ban of the advertisement of money rituals on national tv since it was what inspired the teenage boys’ decision to commit the heinous crime.
