Menzgold Customers Dispute Claims Of Payment By NAM 1 To Over 5,000 Clients
In a recent turn of events, the coalition of distressed Menzgold customers has raised concerns regarding the assertions made by Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM 1, the embattled CEO of Menzgold. NAM 1 had suggested that the company, since its closure, had successfully resolved debts owed to more than five thousand customers.
NAM 1 faced significant backlash over the weekend when he proposed a verification fee of GHC650 for the aggrieved customers to access their frozen funds. During an interview with Serwah Amihere on X Space, he initially stood by the claim that over 5,000 individuals had been reimbursed.
“Contrary to the misconception that we do not fulfill our payment promises, I can assert that, based on my careful review of the records, we have indeed provided payments to over 5,000 individuals,” he stated. He also emphasized that the visible progress in the region was a result of diligent behind-the-scenes efforts.
However, Fred Forson, the spokesperson for the Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold, disputed NAM 1’s figures during an interview on Starr FM’s Morning Starr program. Forson stated that the figure could not possibly be accurate, as claimed by NAM 1.
“I urge the public not to be misled; he is merely throwing numbers around. He has not fulfilled payments to 5,000 people. Our coalition consists of over 10,000 members, and not a single individual has received any payments. I don’t know where he is obtaining this 5,000 figure. This is typical of NAM 1, he’s playing with numbers,” Forson asserted. He also emphasized that the Menzgold issue had transcended NAM 1’s control and suggested that any funds he claimed to possess for reimbursement should be handed over to the Attorney General and the Bank of Ghana for proper handling.
In a disheartening revelation, Fred Forson further disclosed that nearly two hundred customers had tragically lost their lives, with some resorting to suicide, while still awaiting the release of their frozen investments. These distressing circumstances only serve to underscore the urgency of resolving the Menzgold crisis in a fair and equitable manner.
This ongoing dispute between the aggrieved customers and NAM 1 continues to cast a shadow over the Menzgold saga, leaving many to hope for a just and timely resolution to this complex financial issue.
