Police Arrest Five Suspects Pertaining To The Fomena Bullion Van Attack

Earlier today Police have arrested five persons suspected to be involved in the Fomena bullion van attack in the Ashanti region in which a police officer General Lance Corporal Baba Martin was killed.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander C.O.P Akwasi Mensah Duku reveal this at a news conference in Kumasi where he launches a manhunt on the alleged leader of the robbery gang who is a 22-year person of John Appiah.
This incident happened on Tuesday 19th January 2020, where a Police officer named General Lance Baba Martin was killed in a robbery attack on a bullion van belonging to a security company.
The van was transporting a cash amount of five hundred thousand Ghana cedis, from the Dunkwa branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) to the new one in New Edubiase.
The Police command launched an investigation into the robbery attacks and 3 intelligence, it arrested 5 out of 10 persons who are suspected to be involved in the robbery incident.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander C.O.P Akwasi Mensah Duku revealed that all the five suspects who have been arrested and now in Police custody have confessed to committing the crime after being interrogated by the Police.
He further explained that the suspects were apprehended at their various hideouts which were Techiman, Kumasi, and Kasoa. The Police were able to retrieve GHS53,934, 20 Toyota corolla saloon cars, one tricycle, and 2 motorbikes from the suspects.
The Police say that their investigations have also revealed that the same group that attacked the bullion van at Fomena is the group behind the recent attack on an ambulance in the eastern region which led to the death of Abraham Tetteh the ambulance driver.
Lastly, he added that two suspects Kofi Matthew aka “Wiser” and Martin Teye aka Kwaku Darko are already on the wanted list of the Bono East regional command for their involvement in the WESTEC security bullion van attack which happened on the 8th of May 2020.
The regional command has also mounted a manhunt for one John Appiah also know as “Omega” a 22-year-old senior high school graduate who is said to be the leader of the robbery gang.
